Doosan Bears head coach Lee Seung-yeop expressed his satisfaction with a meaningful win.
Doosan defeated the Kiwoom Heroes 6-4 on Thursday at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea, in the 2024 Shinhan Solbank KBO League.
With the win, Doosan (39 wins, 2 draws, and 30 losses) extended its winning streak to two games and its five-game winning streak against Kiwoom.
After the game, Doosan head coach Lee Seung-yeop said, “It was a meaningful game for us to break the losing streak and continue our winning streak. The entire team showed strong determination to win.”
Doosan starting pitcher Raul Alcantara pitched six innings of seven hits (one home run), one walk, two strikeouts and three runs. Closer Kim Taek-yeon struck out the side in the ninth to earn his fourth save of the season.
“Alcantara paved the way for the victory with a quality start (six or more innings pitched with three earned runs or less), and Choi Ji-kang followed with a clean inning of relief. I would also like to praise Kim Taek-yeon for his strong pitching for the second consecutive day.”
“In the batting order, Kim Jae-hwan came through with a leadoff single in the first inning. With his three-hit game, he continued his recent good hitting form.”
Doosan’s foreign-born slugger Henry Ramos 토토 blasted the game-winning two-run homer, while Jeon Min-jae supported with a 2-for-4 performance and three RBIs.
“In a tight situation, Jeon Min-jae provided valuable RBIs in the fourth and sixth innings. Heo Kyung-min and Kang Seung-ho, who both had multi-hit games (two or more hits in a game), also played a big role,” said Lee. “Ramos came through with the game-winning home run in a tie game. However, I would like to ask them to show a little more concentration on defense.”
Lee also thanked the fans for their support. “Even though it was an away game, a lot of fans filled the third-base bleachers at Gochuk, and their cheers helped us win the series. I will always be grateful to them,” Lee said.
