Chile’s Joaquin Niemann Wins Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah

Joaquin Niemann of Chile gained increasingly high fame by winning the LIV Golf Jeddah by four strokes.

The 25-year-old won the Australian Open in December and qualified for the Masters after three top-five finishes on the DP World Tour.

He won his second title in three LIV Tour starts this season, finishing at 17 under after three rounds in Saudi Arabia with a 4-under 66.

South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen and Charlie Schwartzel tied for second place.

Schwartzel closed with a 68 but it was Oosthuizen, the 2010 Open champion, who was Niemann’s closest challenger before shooting on the 16th.

He shot 67 with consecutive birdies, but Niemann scored on the 17th and 18th holes to secure a relaxed victory.

The Chilean athlete was recently asked after a match if he felt like he had become one of the ‘hottest golfers’ in the world.(안전놀이터)

“How is that possible? I’m around 100th in the world,” said Niemann, who is actually the latest in the world ranking at 72, but is unable to earn ranking points for her performance in the LIV tournament.

He added: “I’m very proud of the way I’ve played all week.”

American Bryson DeChambeau, the 2020 U.S. Open winner, finished fourth at 12-under, while Spain’s current Masters champion Jon Rahm finished fifth, one shot behind.

U.S. golfer Anthony Kim (23), who joined the tour 12 years after leaving the professional stage last week, finished 11 strokes behind last with 16 over par.
