North Korean women’s soccer fails to qualify for Paris Olympics…loses 1-2 to Japan

The North Korean women’s soccer team has failed to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

North Korea fell 1-2 to Japan in the second leg of the women’s soccer Asian final qualifying tournament for the Paris Olympics on Monday at the Tokyo National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan.

After a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Jeddah, 스포츠토토 Saudi Arabia, on Sept. 24, North Korea fell to 1-2 on aggregate.

The North Koreans were looking to qualify for the Olympic women’s soccer tournament for the first time in 12 years after London 2012, but fell short at the final gate.

Japan, on the other hand, will be making its second consecutive Olympic appearance following the 2021 Tokyo Games on home soil. Japan’s best result in Olympic women’s soccer was a silver medal in London 2012.

North Korea struggled with Japan’s offense early on and conceded the first goal in the 26th minute.

Mina Tanaka’s header from a free kick hit the crossbar, but Hana Takahashi slotted home the rebound.

The North Koreans fought back, but their lack of determination cost them the chance to equalize, allowing Aoba Fujino to add a second goal in the 31st minute.

North Korea pulled a goal back in the 36th minute through Kim Hye-young, but were unable to add to their lead in the remaining time.
