Prime Minister Han Deok-soo will attend the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, on Sept. 24 (local time) as the government’s representative, the Prime Minister’s Office said on Sept. 19.Han will attend the opening ceremony of the Asian Games at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium on Sept. 23 for a two-day trip to China and encourage the national athletes. He will be accompanied to the opening ceremony by Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Jang Jang-ran, an official at the presidential office said .In the past, the opening ceremony of the Asian Games has usually been attended by a ministerial-level official as the government’s representative, and Han’s attendance is seen as a sign of the Yun administration’s commitment to improving bilateral ties. This is the highest-level South Korean delegation to the Games since President Yoon held his first meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Sept. 7 and expressed his intention to restore bilateral cooperation .As such, it will be interesting to see if Han will be able to hold meetings with President Xi Jinping or Premier Li during his visit. “The Hangzhou Asian Games are very important to China,” Han told reporters at a press conference at the Government Complex in Seoul earlier in the day, adding, “I think it was usually the culture minister who went, but it would be good if the prime minister could go and give China such a sign (of improved relations).””If we have the opportunity to meet with President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony, I hope we can talk to each other,” he said, adding, “It’s not clear if we will be able to meet separately, but as a host country, hy not have the opportunity to do it with the whole (delegation)?””China is an important country, a close neighbor, and we have very deep economic ties,” Han said, adding, “But (there are) some things that we haven’t been able to do in the past to be more clear about, for example, the values that we have to uphold with China. I think that’s something that we need to improve on in terms of trying to convince China of our security principles.” “I think it’s natural for us as neighbors to respect each other and talk to each other for mutual benefit, and we’re also pushing for a trilateral summit, so we can take the prime minister’s visit as a signal to say, ‘We want the trilateral relationship to go 카지노 well,’” he added.
