Seoul and Suwon in a hurry, a supermatch on a wooden bridge

Maybe it’s the last time, or maybe it’s just one more rematch. FC Seoul and Suwon Samsung 온라인카지노 will play their third “supermatch” of the season this weekend. A cliffhanger game where a loss means a drop in the standings. Seoul and Suwon have a lot riding on this matchup.

Seoul and Suwon will meet in the 29th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2023 on September 2 at Suwon World Cup Stadium. This will be the third Super Match of the season and 102nd overall, with Seoul leading the all-time series with 41 wins, 25 draws and 35 losses. Seoul has also won both of this season’s Super Matches. Seoul won the first meeting on April 22, 3-1, and the second on June 22, 1-0.

The situation for both teams is desperate in a different sense.

Suwon is in 11th place in the relegation zone with 22 points. They’ve been stuck in the relegation zone since the start of the season. In particular, they are only one point behind last-place Gangwon FC (21 points), who are directly relegated. A loss in this Super Match and a win for Gangwon could send Suwon to the bottom of the table.

Suwon seemed to be on track with three wins, four draws and one loss in eight games from July 1 against Daegu FC (1-1 draw) to August 18 against Jeju United (1-0 win). However, a 0-4 loss to Gwangju FC on Aug. 27 sank the momentum again. The key will be how to revive the momentum ahead of the game against Seoul.

Seoul is also in desperate need of a win after going winless in their last six matches (4 draws and 2 losses). At one point, they were in contention with leaders Ulsan Hyundai, but their form has been very up and down since then and they have started to slip down the standings. They are currently in fifth place with 40 points. After a 2-2 draw against Daegu on November 19, the team was thrown into turmoil when head coach Ahn Ik-soo announced his resignation.

The good news is that Ahn’s successor, Kim Jin-gyu, managed to secure a 2-2 draw against Ulsan in the 28th round, his first game in charge. It didn’t result in a win, but it was a significant change of pace, with Ilyuchenko, who had been struggling, getting a goal.

If Seoul loses the SuperMatch, the table could shake up once again. They could fall as low as seventh if sixth-place Incheon (40 points) and seventh-place Daegu (38 points) win. Eighth-place Daejeon Hana Citizen (37 points) and ninth-place Jeju (34 points) are also not far behind Seoul and could fall to the bottom at worst. This also means that Seoul and Suwon could meet in a supermatch once again in Final B.
