Shin Min-jae leads the league in stolen bases…

Shin Min-jae (신민재-LG Twins) became the first player in the KBO to reach 30 stolen bases this season.

Shin Min-jae started the game at second base against the Lotte Giants at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Thursday and stole second base after leading off the seventh inning with an infield single next to the first baseman.

It was Shin’s 30th stolen base of the season.

It is the first time in 10 years that an LG player has recorded 30 or more stolen bases in a single season since Oh Ji-hwan (30) in 2013.

Shin was not drafted by a professional team in 2015 after graduating from Incheon High School due to his rather small size (171 centimeters tall and 67 kilograms).

After joining the Doosan Bears as a developmental player, Shin never made it to the first team and was transferred to LG in November 2017 through the second round of the draft.

His first first-team appearance came in 2019, and his role was that of a “pinch runner” who was on the field for short periods of time.

He was named to the opening roster again this year, but didn’t get his first at-bat until April 28.

In late May, Yeom began using Shin Min-jae as a second baseman. He showed a talent for hitting and entered the competition for the starting second base position.

Now that he’s gotten his chance, he’s looking to win an individual title.

With 30 stolen bases, Shin Min-jae is four behind the second-place finisher in the category, Jung Soo-bin (26, Dusan).

It’s looking increasingly likely that LG will have a stolen base king for the first time in 13 years since Lee Dae-hyung in 2010. 먹튀검증
