United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Korea Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi commemorated Emirati Women’s Day, an occasion that marks the country’s commitment to the empowerment of women.
The event highlighted the UAE’s ongoing efforts to encourage women’s participation in all sectors of society, a critical aspect of the nation’s long-term development goals.
“On this special day, which was launched for the first time in 2015 by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, we hold it as a testament to the United Arab Emirates’ unwavering commitment (to) empowering women across all sectors,” Al Nuaimi said at the Emirati Women’s Day event in Seoul, Wednesday.
The celebration coincided with the anniversary of the founding of the General Women’s Union on Aug. 28, 1975, a milestone in the UAE’s journey toward gender equality and women’s leadership.
“This occasion coincides with the anniversary of the founding of the General Women’s Union … a milestone in the journey of Emirati women toward greater participation and leadership in the nation’s development,” he said.
The ambassador pointed to the UAE Centennial 2071 Plan, which outlines the country’s vision for future growth, as a framework where women’s empowerment remains central.
“As we work toward the goals set forth in the UAE Centennial 2071 Plan, the empowerment of women remains a key pillar of our community and national development strategies,” he said.
The ambassador also introduced two distinguished speakers, whom he noted as exemplars of the important roles Emirati women play in various fields.
Maryam Majid Kalfan bin Theneya, the second deputy speaker of the UAE Federal National Council, spoke on the contributions of women in governance, particularly their role in the Federal 한국을 National Council. Moza Mubarak Haji Al Qubaisi from the Saif bin Zayed Academy for Police and Security Sciences followed, discussing the critical involvement of women in the police force and their impact on national security.
Concluding his speech, Al Nuaimi expressed his hope that the event would serve as an inspiration for all Emirati women.
“I hope this event will inspire and encourage all Emirati women to continue on their path of success, knowing that their efforts are pivotal to the sustainable future of the UAE,” he said.
Emirati Women’s Day, celebrated annually on Aug. 28, has become a significant occasion to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women in the UAE.
