It’s going to be a hot match on a midsummer night.
Daejeon Hana Citizens will face Daegu FC in the 25th round of the Hana Bank K League 1 2024 at DGB Daegu Bank Park on July 27 at 7:30 pm. Daejeon is in 12th place with 20 points (4 W, 8 D, 12 L, 23 G, 35 A, -12).
Daejeon are winless in their last six matches after a 1-2 loss to the Pohang Steelers. They took the lead on a goal from Kim Jun-bum, but conceded two goals in the first three minutes of the second half. Daejeon tried to score more goals by introducing strikers such as Chun Sung-hoon and Kim Hyun-wook, 토토 but came up empty.

Coach Hwang Sun-hong said at the post-match press conference, “We’re struggling as we keep conceding goals, but I’m pleased with our preparation. I hope that the players will not be pessimistic about the situation and will have the courage to solve it together. I hope they don’t lose their courage.”
During Daejeon’s winless streak, Jeonbuk Hyundai moved up to 10th place with a point. At the bottom of the table, Daejeon needs a win against Daegu to turn things around. Daegu is in 11th place, just above Daejeon. Again, things are not looking good for them with six games without a win. It’s a six-point showdown on a wooden bridge.
The head-to-head record is evenly matched. They have 15 wins, 19 draws and 15 losses. In the last 10 games, Daejeon is 2-2-2 and 6-6-1, but the two teams have met twice this season, winning once and drawing once. The last time they met, Daejeon scored a theater goal to earn a valuable victory. Daejeon is on the brink of a cliffhanger and will be looking to catch Daegu and climb back up.
The key player is Kim Hyun-wook. Kim Hyun-wook is known as the “little giant” after joining Daejeon this summer as part of the club’s storming recruitment. Despite his short stature, his strengths are his dribbling through space and his intelligent passing. He can play as a number 10. He can play as a No. 10. Daejeon’s recruitment has given them strength up front, on the flanks, and in the middle of the field, but they lacked a player who could play the No. 10 role. With Kim Seung-dae injured and Masa improving his form, Kim Hyun-wook could be the link between the two and help Daejeon’s attack, which includes Chun Sung-hoon and Yoon Do-young. Kim Hyun-wook’s role will be crucial for Daejeon to win against Daegu.
