Incheon United left much to be desired in the Gyeongin Derby


Professional soccer’s K League 1 Incheon United left much to be desired in the ‘Gyeongin Derby’ against FC Seoul, both in terms of results and fan behavior.

Incheon lost 1-2 to Seoul in the 12th round of the ‘Hana Bank K League 1 2024’ at the Incheon Football Stadium on the afternoon of the 11th.

The rough play that continued throughout the game heated up the crowd, and some fans showed unruly behavior immediately after the game.

After the referee blew the final whistle, Seoul goalkeeper Baek Jong-beom turned around and pumped his fist in the air with his arms open toward Incheon supporters.

Some Incheon supporters booed and threw water bottles into the stadium in response to Baek’s behavior. The bottles continued to rain down despite the pleas of Yonichi and other Incheon players.

Ki Sung-yong was pelted with water bottles by Incheon fans and fell to the ground.

The game, which was dominated by Incheon, quickly turned rough when Gerso was sent off in the fourth minute of first-half stoppage time for punching Choi Joon during a rough altercation.

In addition to Gerso’s red card, Incheon and Seoul each received three yellow cards.
